Nestled on the mid-coast of Maine, Camden exudes every charm of a small town in New England. Or so I heard. Up until last weekend, I had never visited Camden, but with peak foliage happening right now, I had to change that. So I booked a room at Whitehall, Lark Hotels’ Camden outpost, and jumped in the car.
My sister had one wish for her 30th birthday: go to Lisbon. So guess what? We went to Lisbon. My MO when it comes to trip planning is to stalk the shit out of the destination. Needless to say, I knew what I wanted to eat, where I wanted to stay and the sights I needed to see before I even paid for my plane ticket.
I love Nantucket in the off-season. While extremely beautiful in the summer, the population grows 3x during the warmer months and can make the small island feel crowded. Don’t get me wrong, I love a summer getaway to the Grey Lady, but you really get a feel for the charming Massachusetts island during the spring or fall. When I had the chance to visit The Nantucket Hotel, I jumped at the chance to go in April. Right before the peak season starts, the restaurants and shops are opening back up but you don’t have to deal with any crowds – and reservations are very easy to come by.
