For the second half of my stay in Santorini, I moved to a hotel closer to Thera and Οία. Before I checked in at my next hotel, I made plans to have lunch at Mystique, The Luxury Collection’s Οία property.

Mystique is exactly what you think of when you imagine a Santorini hotel. The various pockets of Mystique’s property are nestled among the cliffs of Οία’s coast with views of the bluest ocean as far as the eye can see. I settled in at the pool restaurant to try their menu of fresh seafood, fruity cocktails, and decadent desserts.

First of all, my jaw dropped when I first stepped foot into the restaurant. I mean, did you see those pictures? I’ll give you a minute to scroll up to look again.

Go ahead. I’ll wait.

Ok, just so you know, that’s not an optical illusion. Well done, Mystique.

One thing you’ll notice is that the tables are all empty. That’s because the winds were approximately 5,000 miles per hour. So yeah, we sat inside. (There was one couple who braved the elements and the number of flying dishes was WILD.)

The food at Mystique was delish. For starters, we had eggplants in the oven with goat cheese and cinnamon, and Greek salad. (Honestly, if there was a meal where we didn’t have a Greek salad, there was something seriously wrong.) (Actually, I don’t think there was a meal where we didn’t have a Greek salad, so don’t worry, we’re fine.)

For our entrees, we ordered grilled calamari with warm potato salad, olives, cherry tomatoes, and capers, and chicken fillet with honey sauce, sesame seeds, fried potatoes, and feta cheese. Both dishes were pretty, pretty good. The calamari was cooked perfectly, which is a big deal, and the honey sauce and feta were solid partners for the chicken.

Dessert was unnecessary but oh so welcome. We ordered a chocolate pie with orange and vanilla ice cream, and gluten-free pancakes with ricotta cheese, espresso coffee, dried cherries, and chia seeds. See, I told you it was necessary.
