Newport is quickly becoming one of my favorite places in New England. It’s a quick trip from Boston, there’s so much to do year-round, and the food scene isn’t too bad either. Even though Newport is small in size, finding a larger hotel that’s close to Thames Street is key.

I love a small bed and breakfast, but sometimes you want the amenities of a resort. Luckily, Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina made its debut on Goat Island in 2017 and has been a welcome addition to the Newport hotel scene.

Gurney’s, surrounded by the Narragansett Bay, is a waterfront resort that offers incredible views, the privacy of an island hotel, and the convenience of being minutes from downtown Newport.

The decor is nautical inspired and 1000% exactly how I would decorate my vacation home. Until I have that vacation home, I guess Gurney’s will have to step in and play the part.

My room didn’t skimp on the nautical vibes either. The sleek modern fixtures and bay views really evoke a sense of being on a boat. And I’m here for it.

When I’m not crushing on my room or the lobby, you can find me sitting on the wraparound deck or walking around the hotel grounds… playing with… wait for it… the GOATS. Yep, you heard me. Goats on Goat Island.

From the location to the amenities, Gurney’s is the perfect hotel for your visit to Newport. Now if the weather would just warm up so I can go back to test their pool.
