One lovely night at the Faraway Nantucket

LOCATION

Nantucket, Massachusetts

There once was a place I dreamed of, far away.

For the tail end of my most recent trip to Nantucket, I stayed at the new Faraway hotel located in the middle of downtown on Centre Street.

Tucked behind a row of inconspicuous green shrubs lies the Faraway property. Once you round the corner of the entrance, you’ll immediately step into the lively courtyard with ample seating and plants as far as the eye can see. Designed by the team behind Life House, the Faraway doesn’t skimp on the aesthetically pleasing details. From the courtyard to the lobby floor (hello, checkerboard pattern 😍), the property is pure eye candy.

I was lucky enough to score the Faraway’s two-bedroom suite. The suite is the perfect size for 2-4 people with a sitting area that includes a couch, coffee table, bigger-sized mini-fridge, tv, and tiny porch for some fresh air. (BTW, the “porch” is more like a perch with a door.) The bathroom – and the shower – were a perfect size.

One bedroom is a bit larger than the other, but both rooms have their own queen bed. The larger of the two rooms has a small closet, a table, and a chair.

So basically, this suite has everything.

In the heart of Nantucket, the Faraway is the perfect place to rest your head after a day of shopping, eating, and drinking. I would recommend the Faraway for families (there aren’t any elevators, so if you have a stroller and are staying on anything but the ground floor, you’ll get a workout a few times a day), girls trips, and romantic getaways. The hotel was just starting to open during my visit, and the team did everything they could to accommodate their visitors. I was even stranded on the island when tropical storm Elsa canceled all of the ferries on my departure day. They found a couple of room options at the Faraway and Life House, and their help was so appreciated during a stressful time.

The location is perfect, and their restaurant is opening later in July. I obviously need to dine there, so needless to say, I will be visiting the Faraway again very soon.
