Counter, located in the lobby of The Hotel Salem, is the latest installation by Lark Hotel’s Executive Chef, Justin Perdue. Like his other spot, Picnic Social in Stowe, VT, Justin’s menu at Counter is approachable and surprising.

From burrata to burgers to naan, the team at Counter surprise and delight with a range of flavors and dishes that are unexpected but, in the end, make total sense.

Counter will also be serving food at The Hotel Salem’s rooftop bar, and I had a chance to get a sneak peek of the menu. I won’t lie, I’m still dreaming about these chips and guac. And the tacos are outstanding. I’ll definitely consider taking the ferry from Boston for a snack.

Like the name implies, Counter is a true throwback to the counter service at department stores back in the day. Similar to The Hotel Salem, the 60s mod vibe is threaded throughout Counter as well.

THE DIGEST
MY PICKS
Hummus
The naan is so freaking good. Get the hummus just for that.
Counter Burger
A tried and true burger. So much flavor, and perfect after a day of exploring Salem.
Guac
Technically only served on The Roof, the guac is so delicious. And the chips are hearty and such a good scooper.
