#ChooseTheTable with me

#ChooseTheTable with Dietz & Watson | The Stopover by Meaghan Murray | www.meaghanmurray.com

I moved a lot as a kid, and to say that moving when you’re young is easy would be the understatement of the century. New schools, new friends, all of it sucks. But what always connected me to my new home was the food. Whether trying crabs for the first time in Maryland, or a pretzel in Philly or learning to appreciate food in Boston, there’s one constant threaded through all of this – family and friends.

Sitting around that picnic table banging on crab shells with my family as a kid, or my childhood friends showing me the salty deliciousness of a Philly pretzel, or cry laughing my way through the Boston food scene with my besties, brings me closer to people. There was, and is, always a stronger connection post-meal than there was before it started. Today that still rings true.

This is why Dietz & Watson’s #ChooseTheTable campaign is so important. We all move at such a fast pace that we need to remember to slow down and enjoy the small moments around a table with family, friends and loved ones. That’s where memories are made.

There was a connection post-meal that wasn’t there before it started.

Last week, I had the immense pleasure of joining Dietz & Watson and a few new friends at the Chef’s Table at Doretta Taverna. Chef Michael Schlow treated us to a delicious four-course meal featuring Dietz & Watson products. From start to finish each bite was memorable. And to make the night even more special, Chef Schlow shared a few personal stories. Hearing stories about growing up in New York, to the adventures of a 42-course meal at El Bulli with his buddy, Mario Batali, was something that I will never forget. Needless to say, the night quickly became one of my favorite food memories.

I wanted to recreate that feeling this weekend, so I grabbed a few Dietz & Watson products and made a special lunch and dinner with my mom. We started off with a charcuterie board and finished off the meal with zoodles (zucchini noodles) with crispy eggplant, Dietz & Watson pepperoni and provolone.

We loved every minute and it really brought out the spirit of the #ChooseTheTable movement.
