Last weekend, a few pals and I planned an indulgent Sunday brunch at Bar Mezzana. When it came to ordering, we didn’t hold back. From crudo to donuts to eggs, we tried everything. Each dish was prepared perfectly. Standout dishes included the Shima Aji crudo, the eggplant crostini, and the bucatini carbonara.
Here’s the rest of our order…
The first round of dishes were smaller plates. Lots of crudo and crostinis. Perfect to share with a group of friends at brunch or even if you’re grabbing some drinks for happy hour.
After inhaling all of our small plates, we thought “let’s order more!” For our second course, we all ordered our own dish. Some ordered burgers, others pasta. Me? I ordered a killer egg sandwich. (Don’t worry, though, I had a few bites of the pasta.)
Sufficiently stuffed and full of great conversation, I rolled myself out the door.

Shima Aji Crudo
The Shima Aji is perfectly complemented by the flavors of the horseradish, chive, and caviar. And that’s saying a lot coming from someone who hates horseradish.
Eggplant Crostini
I could eat this every single day. The eggplant is luscious, and the chili, honey and goat cheese pair so stunningly well with the eggplant and the deliciously crusty bread.
Bucatini Carbonara
I don’t know what to say. I love bucatini and carbonara. This rivals the best pasta I ever had in Rome. Get it.
